Counselor's Corner

Welcome!

Hello! I am so excited for this school year as the Elementary Counselor at Robert F. Hunt Elementary! My name is Mrs. Venable. I have been in Education for 10 years, first as a Theatre/Debate teacher, and now, as a school counselor.

It is my purpose to work with families and school staff to make sure your child feels safe, happy, and is learning while at school. Some situations may call for some intervention on my part. If this is the case, I will work closely with you along the way.

First 6 Weeks Character Focus

Optimism

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." - Winston Churchill

During guidance lessons this six weeks, students have been learning about optimism and future goal planning.

Optimism has been listed in one of the top resiliency factors. Being optimistic produces a sense of responsibility for future outcomes. This ownership enables students (and adults) to solve problems more efficiently. Optimism has also been listed as one of the top desired traits for the workplace. If we can cultivate more optimism in students today, they will be fully equipped to solve the problems of the future.
